Equine Activities and SEL for MS Girls!

Service Description

According to a July 14, 2023, Yale School of Medicine article by Erin Brough, students exposed to social-emotional learning demonstrated "self-efficacy, self-esteem, mindset, perseverance, and optimism, among others." The study goes on to state that kids "who participate in SEL programs also feel better in school, reporting less anxiety, stress, depression, and suicidal thoughts." Now, bring in the intuitive, sentient being of our equine partners! What better way to support middle schoolers than in an environment with horses, peers, mentors, and nature?  Spirit Ranch JSP offers SEL and Equine Activities the second Saturday of each month January through May. This is a small group gathering with three to five participants. As a retired secondary teacher and lifetime horsewoman, I offer your middle schooler the opportunity to develop life skills in a fun-filled atmosphere!
